Next Month: McDonald’s Set to Close All CosMc’s Locations in New Zealand

Six months following the launch of its beverage-centric offshoot restaurant chain, CosMc’s, McDonald’s is shuttering them all.

On Friday, McDonald’s declared that they will be shutting down the remaining CosMc’s outlets they still have. US by the conclusion of this coming month.

McDonald’s opened the first CosMc’s in late 2023 with a menu featuring beverages appearing to rival competitors like Starbucks, and a small selection of the fast food chain’s classics like McMuffins and McFlurries.

The initial CosMc’s welcomed patrons in Bolingbrook, Illinois, with additional locations sprouting up throughout Texas.

"What began with the conviction that McDonald's deserved success in the rapidly expanding drink market swiftly evolved into a multi-site, compact-sized concept centered around beverages," according to the statement from the company.

McDonald’s indicated that CosMc’s functioned as a 'Learning Laboratory' where staff could experiment with and refine their customer service techniques.

"The quick additions and modifications to the menu, guided by customer feedback, resulted in more targeted options for our patrons as the trial progressed," stated the firm.

Although the CosMcCain’s stores may be closing down, several of their beverages will live on. Inspired by the spin-off, these drinks will be introduced into the menu at numerous McDonald’s outlets nationwide as part of an impending 'trial'.
